Meth in Georgia

You've probably hear the horror stories of Meth abuse: kitchen meth labs, multi-day binges, neglected children, crime and so on.

But you probably don't think about Meth in Georgia. That's going to change on Monday.

Georgia Attorney General Thurbert Baker (D) and Sen. Johnny Isakson (R)  will stand together on the steps of the state Capitol at 11 a.m. Monday to help launch the Georgia Meth Project.

This rare bipartisan pairing is the result of their shared focus on preventing Meth from ravaging Georgia as it’s done in other states. Meth is estimated to be a $1.3 billion problem in Georgia already. Starting Monday, a saturation-level advertising campaign will be directed at teenagers across Georgia.

The shocking – and effective -- ads will soon be in every community.

The Meth Project is currently running in Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Montana and Wyoming.

If you want to see the kinds of ads coming to Georgia, look to some of the previous states that have launched the campaign.

I'm encouraging anyone who wants to better understand the depth of Georgia’s Meth problem to follow the campaign on Facebook.

If you live in Georgia and can make it out to the Capitol, we'd love to have your support.
